The Gospel Music Association awarded Newsweek's Lorraine Ali "Best Feature Writing Award" honors for her July, 2001 cover story "The Glorious Rise of Christian Pop."  The awards ceremony took place in Nashville, where Lorraine Ali was given a Dove award during a formal ceremony. In the story, writer Lorraine Ali followed the alternative Christian rock tour Festival Con Dios through the mid-west and documented the overlooked success of the Christian entertainment industry. Lorraine Ali's story helped expose secular audiences to the popularity and success of Christian music.
